An iTunes iMix of sorts…

Except that the reason it’s not on iTunes is because to have an iTunes iMix, it has to have all the songs in it’s store. So here is my iTunes iMix that’s not on iTunes. (By the way, I have decided to start doing random lists of the week, like, ‘My favourite songs of the week’, and that kind of thing. Keep your eyes out for more!). For the name of this list, it would be something along the lines of songs for the deep soul. These are songs that obviously came out of a deep understanding of life, in it’s very most deepest part, and almost always with a tangible conviction for love, and sometimes, justice (Calling All Angels). There will be the occasional angst-ridden song, like, ‘The River’, and the occasional anthemetic song, like, ‘Kyrie Eleison’. But these songs are more serious minded songs. Very thought-provoking to listen to. Hope you enjoy.

The River, By Rich Mullins

Frail, By Jars Of Clay

Politik, By Coldplay

Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful, By Keith Green

Kyrie Eleison, By Mark Schultz

Love’s Divine, By Seal

Where The Streets Have No Name, By U2

River Of Love, By Sam (Leslie) Phillips

Break Me Through, By Bebo Norman

Theme From Harry’s Game, By Clannad

Twilight And Shadow, By Howard Shore

Another Day, By Steven Delopoulos

Caanan Bound, By Andrew Peterson

Calling All Angels, By Train

Red Letters, By DC Talk

World’s On Fire, By Sarah MacLachlan

This concludes my list (iMix) of deep songs. Now go and listen to the Beach Boys or something to lighten the mood!

  • Great, I can’t wait for more!

  • Hey Joel!! How about if I just keep my eyes in my head and keep them open looking for other lists. I think that would be less painful!! ~Katrina

    aww envoking…
    very good list!

  • I heartily approve, though here’s something odd: I don’t think I’ve ever heard The River. Which Rich Mullins’ album is it off of?

  • ‘The River’ is off of the first volume of, The World As Best As I Remember it’. Kind of a concept album (almost anyway, he always had a kind of thread running through any of his albums). Anyway, it’s worth a good listen.
