  • Hi Joel!
My mom has been coming to your mom’s conference for years now. She just went last week in Dallas and bought your CD “The Night as Bright as Day.” I’ve been listening to your songs because I enjoy seeing other piano player’s methods of playing. I am a pianist myself and have been for the last 13 years…(I’m 17). I made a CD and I’m hoping to make several more. The song I enjoy the most on your cd is #2. I was wondering if it is a duet or do you play it as a solo? I really can’t figure out how you get that consistant pattern of notes and still play right and left hand together. It is fascinating to listen to.
    Have fun at college!

  • Hi Nicole, thanks for the comment. So glad to hear you are enjoying the CD. The second song was written as a duet. I played the alternating pattern first and then added chords and a melody on to it later.

Congrats on making a CD. What kind of style do you play?

  • Hey Joel, I play more on the lines of a contemporary style. Very much like you do. The hard thing for me is following the so called rules in theory for the makeup of a song. But let me tell you, once you follow those “rules” the music turns out beautiful! You did a great job on “The Night as Bright as Day.” Thanks for the feed-back!
